Deep Fried Oreos
Deep fried Oreos are like scones with a mini chocolate cake in the center. They are delicious as a warm guilty-pleasure treat. Check out some of our other fried recipes while you're at it!
- Peanut or vegetable oil - 2 quarts
- Oreos - 1 package
- Pancake batter - 1 large bowl
- Powdered sugar, to sprinkle
Freeze the Oreo cookies for 2 hours before cooking. Place the oil in a pan like our Aluminum Pot Set or a Dutch oven. Set the heat at medium to begin heating the oil. Follow directions on the package to make the pancake batter. We found it easier to cover the cookies if the pancake batter is a little on the thick side.
Test the oil and make sure it is 350° F, or if you do not have an oil thermometer, drop a little bit of pancake batter in and see if it starts to bubble around the batter and form a ball.
When the oil is ready, dip the Oreos one at a time into the pancake batter and place into the hot oil. Do this carefully so it does not splash. Fry for about 30 seconds then turn over.
Use our Long Handled Skimmer to remove the Oreos from the oil and place on paper towels to soak up some of the excess. Top with powdered sugar. Eat while still warm.
