Deep Fried Twinkies
- 1 box of Twinkies
- 1 large bowl of pancake batter
- 2 quarts peanut or vegetable oil
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 Tablespoons milk
Freeze Twinkies for 1-2 hours before frying. When you're ready, heat 2 quarts of oil in a Dutch oven or aluminum pan. Use a thermometer to gauge the temperature--you don't want it hotter than 375° F.
Whisk together 1 cup of powdered sugar with about 2 tablespoons of milk. Add more milk or sugar to reach the consistency of a glaze.
Dip each Twinkie in pancake batter then set carefully in the hot oil. Fry for 30 seconds then flip to other side; work in batches with a few at a time.
Remove the Twinkies from the oil and drain on paper towels. Drizzle glaze on top, and serve warm.
