The California Burger joins the freshness of California-style cuisine with the versatility of bacon in the form of Onion Bacon Jam. The Onion Bacon Jam will delight your tastebuds and make your meat juicy with the perfect blend of salty and sweet.
- For the burgers:
- 1 pound ground beef
- Onion bacon jam*
- Green leaf lettuce
- White Cheddar, sliced
- 2 avocados, sliced
- 8 slider buns
- For the onion bacon jam*
- 1/2 pound smoked bacon, diced
- 1/2 red onion, diced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
Heat Sidekick to medium-low heat.
Add bacon and render for 10-15 minutes. When bacon becomes slightly brown, add onions and garlic. Continue to cook until the onions are translucent but not brown, about 10 minutes.
Once the onions are cooked, add the remainder of the ingredients and cook until the sugar is dissolved and mixture is thick and gooey. Keep the jam warm and set aside.
Preheat pellet grill to 400 degrees F.
Form ground beef into 8 small patties. Season with salt and pepper.
Grill patties until internal temperature reaches 125 degrees F. for rare, 135 degrees F. for medium rare, 145 degrees F. for medium and 160 degrees F. for well done. Flip patties halfway through cook time. The last few minutes of cooking, add a slice of cheese to patties and let the cheese melt.
Place patty on bun with green leaf lettuce, onion bacon jam and fresh avocado.
