Rated 5 out of 5 by The Pete from The best grill ever! I have only had this grill for a couple of months. While it's not what I would consider to be heavy duty, it's nicely built. I am 60 years old, and have been cooking on a grill for a lot of years, and consider myself to be fairly skilled. However, I can honestly say that this grill cooks some of the best meals, and meats that we have ever enjoyed! It makes cooking so easy and convenient! I use a remote temp probe, so it's start the grill, put the meat on, wait for the probe to beep, and that's it! The sear plate may be one of the best things ever added to a grill, reverse searing adds the final touch! Yes, these are a bit expensive, but now, I am always looking for something else to cook on mine!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Pellethead from Built solid and delivered delicious bbq with easy clean up. This grill is awesome. I have been smoking and grilling for years but this is my 1st pellet smoker. All I can say is awesome! I have been using a kamado type rig for years and it produces great bbq but this woodwind produces results just as good as my best off of other rigs with easier and more consistent results. Ash clean out is super easy and grill is built solid. Also hold temp very well and produces great smoke at lower setting. My 1st weekend I have done steaks (amazing) ribs to perfection, pork belly, pork chops ,and chicken. All turned out perfect. I feel like this grill is definitely awesome for the price and is a great buy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cruse55 from How did I survive without this smoker?!!! I've had the woodwind now for 2 months and use it at least 3 times a week. It is so easy to use and the food is great! I own a few large smokers and they are great but with the pellet grill you can smoke a single meal in quick hurry. It's the convienence of a grill with the added flavor of smoke. I have nothing bad to say I'm in love with this grill. The only issue I have had is when it's -25 outside the temp probe dosent want give you a reading, just put your had on it for 10 sec and your good to go. Can't blame them fo that, I prob shouldn't be grilling at that temp but it's sooooo good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Rick Rankin from The Best Purchase I have ever made in my lifetime!!! Love my grill and love my sear box and just bought a FTP 900 Flattop Grill. I use my Woodwind almost daily to cook something and have loved it since I got it put together. I love the food that comes off of it and it has been my answer to get me off of my big stick burner and onto one unit instead of 3 or 4 different ones. I would rate it as one of the best purchases in my lifetime. It have had a few issues that need to be corrected but Camp Chef has the absolute best Customer Service Depts. that I have ever worked with and they immediately took care of the problem. Thank you for a great grill and I would recommend them to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lance from Best smoker out there. I’ve been smoking for years and tried many ways. I owned the smoker vault before my pellet grill and switched because of the auger feature and to smoke with real wood. The ease of the power auger makes smoking so much easier that I find myself smoking more than ever. Quality construction and features like sear attachment and electrical thermometer justify the cost and mst importantly, not having to babysit and change wood chips every hour and a half. Can’t wait to try smoking items like beef briskets that I would have avoided in the past because of all the necessary monitoring. This grill reminds me of the old set it and forget it rotisserie which I also owned and loved for the same reasons. Ease of use...... you won’t regret this purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by DP2692 from Love it I love this grill. As a retired firefighter it goes without saying I love smoke. I have a different smoker that wasn't big enough to cook for more then 4 people. This is a set and forget and I love it. Very simple to operate. The product was easy to put together. The quality is better than others I looked at. Easy to start up and learn. I have cooked chicken, beef jerky and ribs so far and they were perfect. My wife said they were better then food on the other grill. I would recommend this grill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by James from Smoker, Grill, and Convection Oven All In One! I don't know why I even bought a cover because I use the Woodwind 3 or 4 times a week. I keep several kinds of pellets on hand. I can't think of anything that a Woodwind Pellet Grill and Smoker can't make better. And if an owner needs support, Camp Chef is the best on the planet at keeping your investment up and running!! Very friendly and absolutely service oriented. Get yours soon!

Rated 4 out of 5 by Smoke from Absolute winner Very nice all around back yard do it all. Only thing I can find wrong with the unit is the fact that during cold weather it is very hard to control the temperature, causing me to buy a cold weather cover, another 80.00 added to a very expensive grill. In addition I will have to install a gasket around the main door to keep the heat and smoke in. That being said I am very satisfied with may purchase, the grill went together very easy and was up and running in a half hour. The food is great and care free, I would highly recommend the additional purchase of the char box, the combination of the two will make your old BBQ obsolete .

one review states that there is little to no smoke with the camp chef, is the correct?
From my experience, it has plenty of smoke. Really, how can it not? If it's cooking, it's because the wood pellets are hot. Wood emits smoke. So, I'm not sure why someone would even say that unless they aren't seeing the smoke constantly. Sometimes heavy smoke will emit from time to time and then there's a lull in thick smoke, which when cooking at a constant temp. makes sense. You go low smoke so you might not even see it. But, it's there.

How dose the woodwind hold temp in the winter time. Usually smoking/grilling still in the 20's and 30 degree temp marks. The treager im using now still maintains 250 to 300 but have to crank it up to 350 400 to keep the heat up. Heat blanket a option?
I guess it depends on where you live. In southeast Texas, it's worked great for me. However, we're talking 40 some odd degrees weather. I know they make a blanket for it and I've heard good things but I can't testify. Our issue is when it's cold and windy. I just compensate but bumping it up to the next selection level and it seems to to good.

What are the differences between the Woodwind model and the Smokepro DLX?
I have been trying to figure that out as well. From what I can tell, it looks pretty much the same but the meat probe hole has been moved up so the wire doesn't lay on the grill. It also says it has a 6" by 24" upper rack for a total of 570 sq. in. and the obvious it has a stainless steel lid. I think the digital controller is the same on both.

What’s the warranty on the pellet grills?
The warranty is great when mine was delivered by FedEx it was damaged and camp chef sent the replacement parts out immediately. I have never had a warranty work that great on anything. I believe it is a 3 year no hassle warranty

Does the Sear Box on the Woodwind work with 16oz (1 lbs) propane bottle too, or just the standard 20lbs tank?
Ideally you should find a 2 gallon tank to hang on the Woodwind. Otherwise the much heavier 5 gallon tank should just sit on the ground. There may be an adapter hose for the 16 Oz bottle.
