Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the SG and SGX..... I bought these for when I direct grill on my SGX. I got to try them out last night for the first time and they worked amazing. Left a great Sear on my Steaks. Well worth the investment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful !! These work great for the BBQ grill. Not really intended for the smoker as it will make hot spots.... The cast iron continues to get hot , even at low temperatures.... But talk about killer BBQ ....these grates do a perfect job. Pick up a pair , you won't be disappointed.!!

I'm buying the smokerpro 36 sgx and also purchasing a sear box to mount on it for finishing steaks ect... but for simple stuff like burgers these look handy to grill with. If I leave these in full time tho, will it hurt if I'm trying to low and slow smoke

Asked by: Joshk
It should not hurt to leave them in full time. The smoking at low and slow, should not effect the cooking of the meat.

On the Woodwind do you really need these if you have the sear box? Why should I buy these?

Asked by: rwarren
I guess you don't really need them but then you don't really need a TV or a cell phone...JK. I just like them because they are much heavier duty then the wire ones.

Your picture shows fire under the grates. Do you remove the drip pan and deflector with these grates?

Asked by: Progfreak
For the SGX and newer series of grills with the sliding deflector you will not need to remove anything. The drip trays are slotted to allow the flame to pass through. These will replace the grates that come with the grill.

Can you explain how these can be beneficial for use on a grill like the Woodwind? I can guess how they could be great for the SG with the burner opened up. However, I'm not sure what they bring to the other pellet grills. Maybe a new video using them?

Asked by: Bob57702
Hello Bob57702, Thank you for your question. The cast iron holds in a lot of heat so they are not recommended for "smoking" but if you want to use them on the Woodwind or other models of the pellet grill for the higher temp cooking you can do that. Have a great day! Camp Chef

Do these fit the 48" Somerset?

Asked by: Carrie
Thank you for your question. These will not fit the Somerset Series stoves. These are made for the Pellet Grills. We no longer make any cast iron grates for the Somerset series.
