REVIEWS

Mountaineer 2 Burner Aluminum Stove is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive output. I just received my stove and and I'm impressed. It's big and sturdy and built to last. Not only does this stove kick out some serious BTU's, it will also simmer. On one burner I boiled a large pot of water in less time that it would have taken to on my kitchen range, while on the other I made bacon in a cast iron skillet. The drawback of many camp stoves with decent output is their inability to simmer, it's either boil or burn. I just ordered the SSL-24 leg set that will work with it. The rumor is that there will be a model specific aluminum leg set with built in levelers available later this year.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Easily damaged I purchased this stove and brought it home only to find that there was damage to the stove. I took it back to the store to exchange it for another but this time decided to open it up at the store with a sales person. We found that this stove was damaged more than the one I had opened at home. We checked a third stove and it was damaged as well. At that point I decided to just pony up and buy a Partner Steel Stove instead. I. Called camp chef customer service to let them know about the quality issue and they just explained to me how delicate aluminum can be. Oh well, at least it looks good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the Best I have had my Mountaineer for four+ months and love it! It is very well made, it simmers well and it will go high just as well. My only little complaint is the lack of a handle to carrry it with - especially since a bag was not included. Though a bit spendy it performs superbly!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light weight for its size I got the Mountaineer as a light weight replacement for a Weekender 2 burner. The Aluminum on the Mountaineer can be dented or torqued a bit, if loaded in the raft on it's own, but is easily fixed if needed. A trade off for the weight. I keep it inside a Drybox and it's fine. Partner stoves do not have this problem. We use these on multiday raft trips and they both work well. For large trips we take both. If I'm only taking one, I will take the Mountaineer because of its weight and slightly smaller size.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Near Ideal I have had my stove for four months and love it. It cooks superbly, both on high, remember 20,000 BTUs for each burner, and on a simmer. It is lightweight for its size but quite solid too. It folds up well, though the snaps can be a bit tricky, and cleans easily. Minor complaints include: at this price range I would expect a storage/carrying bag to be included especially since there is no handle with which to tote it around.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stove I have an older model of this same stove ( 15+ YO) and it has worked great. I have used it on numerous camping and river trips. The BTU output is great and heats hot water in chicky pails quickly. Would recommend to anyone forease of use, durability, easy to store and clean up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Stove I bought this stove for my husband. He was looking for a durable stove, he likes it and I am sure he will put it to the ultimate test with all his outdoor adventures. The item shipped fast and was packaged well. It also looks just as good in person as it does in the picture for aluminium stove .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy! This is a very high quality stove that works very well for my needs. I like the all aluminum construction since I am a river guide, and this item will end up getting wet at some point. It is very sturdy and well constructed and worth every penny.

QUESTIONS

In Europe we use 30mbar and 50mbar pressure reducers. Which type shall I use with the MOUNTAINEER stove?

Asked by: MiKo
Neither will work. The supplied regulator is 10psi which is 0.7bar (700mbar!). You therefore need to either get a high pressure propane regulator - most are adjustable 0.5-2.0bar and are available from any gas specialist, or find an adaptor for the supplied regulator to fit a UK propane cylinder.

Which legs fit this stove?

Asked by: Samesituation
The legs for the 2 burner Weekender stove fit the Mountaineer as well. I called Customer service and ordered a set along with some extra wing screws. I always seem to lose those.....

Hello, will this Mountaineer stove also work off of the small Coleman 1 lb disposable bottles? If so, do you sell an adapter, so it will work with them?

Asked by: CoreyT
This stove will work with a 1 lb canister of propane, with the adapter AD60, https://www.campchef.com/propane-tank-adapter.html. However, just know that due to the two 20,000 BTU burners the smaller propane tank may freeze up easier.
