Wretched Recipe 1.3

I love soup especially in the fall. And I love peanut butter ALL year. So, combining them? Good idea or bad idea?

I used natural peanut butter in this soup. I would do that if you are going to make this. Check the label. The ingredients should be peanuts and salt.
This recipe is a bit time cosuming. Peanut butter burns pretty easily, so this heats over a double boiler for 20 minutes. It does get thick, but it takes 20 minutes. 20 minutes. ahem.


  • 1 T. butter
  • 3 T. peanut butter
  • 1 t. minced onion
  • 2 T. flour
  • 3 c. heated milk (or part chicken broth)


  1. Cook onion in butter and peanut butter for 5 minutes (watch so the pb doesn’t burn).
  2. Add flour and stir until smooth.
  3. Add heated milk slowly and cook 20 minutes in a double boiler until thickened. Season to taste. If desired sprinkle with chopped peanuts.

Wretched Rating: 2 This recipe is gross because you know what it is. If you served this I don’t think anyone would guess. It is the texture of pureed and thinned out refried beans. The flavor is very mild. Could be a way to get kids to eat soup? Yeah, I didn’t think so either.
