Pear Kuchen

I recently had a few pears that I couldn’t bare to go to waste, and since they were a little soft, I decided to make them into a cake. A Kuchen to be more exact. Don’t really know what that is, except I think it is still a cake…

Ok, I’ll admit it, I didn’t like this. The cake part was ok, but the pears didn’t do it for me. My husband took it to work and it was consumed, but everyone was kind of quiet about it, so I am assuming this was no home run! I would make the cake again, it was good, but pass on the pears.

Pear Kuchen


  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • 1/4 t. salt
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 3 T. melted butter
  • 1/4 t. lemon extract
  • 1/2 t. vanilla extract
  • 2 cups sliced pears


  1. Beat egg and sugar until lemon colored.
  2. Add sifted dry ingredients and wet ingredients.
  3. Beat to combine and pour in a small casserole dish or square pan.
  4. Decorate with sliced pears. Sprinkle with 1/2 c. sugar and 1 T. cinnamon. Bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes or until an inserted toothpick comes out clean.
