Appearances 23rd Annual Fathers' Day Tractor Show / Pottsville, OR / June 14-15, 2008 Since 1985, Pottsville has been home to Branch 9 of the Early Day Gas Engine and Tractor Association (EDGE&TA). Each year on Fathers' Day Weekend, Pottsville comes alive with old tractors, hit and miss engines, tractor pulls, and much more. Take a step back in time, see how people lived, see how the machinery they used works. Demonstrations include threshing and hay bailing, and making shingles. There are soap making, basket & broom making, and spinning & weaving demonstrations too. The Southwestern Oregon Miners will show you how to pan for gold. The Hugo Ladies Club will show you how to quilt. Looking for long forgotten treasures? Our flea market is over an acre in size. What a great way to learn about our past, and have fun doing it at the same time. "That's Good Cooking!" will be giving classes demonstrating Cowboy Cooking. I will also have a supply of Camp Chef Cast Iron Cookware and accessories for campfire cooking. Looking for Cowboy Cooking and recipes using cast iron cookware and the Dutch oven? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hanley Farm - Jacksonville, OR - July 5, 2008 The first Saturday of each month from June through September, the Southern Oregon Historical Society offers Hanley Farm visitors the opportunity to experience the history of our region through a variety of unique and exciting hands-on programs and activities. From wagon and miniature horse cart rides, to butter churning and bread baking, to blacksmithing and weaving demonstrations, to pioneer games and Native American dances-Hanley Farm is the place to be for locals, out-of-towners and children of all ages. I will be on hand demonstrating how the pioneers used cast iron particularly the Dutch oven to prepare their meals. After preparing the dishes, you will have a chance to sample some of the food. You can always count on cornbread, beans, and a cobbler to enjoy...so come on out!
