Every year I get more and more excited to hang out on the beach at Hyrum State Park, while conversing with the local Dutch Oven contestants, and smelling the magic aroma of multiple dishes float through the air. This is one of my all time favorite events!

The delicious aroma of savory food was slowly moving across the Hyrum State Parkâs beach area August 15th, when they hosted the 2012 Dutch Oven Cook off. There were 12 or more Dutch oven dishes prepared, and 9 contestants that entered into the contest. The contestants ranged in all different age groups and Dutch oven cooking experience. For some, this was their first contest, while others have entered cook-offs in the past.
