Camp Chef was founded on the idea that there just had to be a better way to cook outdoors. Because of this, we have become known as an industry leader in innovation.

A couple of months ago Camp Chef took a giant step into the pizza realm when it released its award winning, easy to use and affordable pizza oven accessory that fits on all Camp Chef 16" Cooking System stoves as well as many standard BBQ grills.

Now we've released another model especially designed for Camp Chef's 14" Cooking System stoves. Our engineers worked hard to design and test these pizza ovens to ensure they are capable of producing just the right heating conditions for high-quality artisan style pizza. The Italia Artisan Pizza Oven has really exceeded expectations, even around here. Not only have we been able to cook amazing pizzas, breadsticks, and calzones on it, but just recently we even cooked Cedar Plank Salmon as well as grilled steaks in a skillet on it. If you like pizza, you're going to absolutely love this.

Very disappointed the highest I could get the oven is 550 and it doesn't brown the crust on top at all. I get a nice crust on the bottom. Ok for cooking pizza
in your yard but I would no call this an artisan Pizza Oven. I have the 14 in just be aware the inst say use Medium to low heat but even on high the range is only 550 and in cools as soon as I put the pizza in takes about 15min to cook like a regular oven. Maybe the freestanding unit gets hotter

Does the pizza oven work on the top burner and griddle of the Camp Chef Covengh oven?

Camp Chef Admin (not verified) on Jan 29, 2014 2:15 pm

No, the PZ60 and PZ90 are both to large to fit on top of the Camp Oven.

Can you use this same pizza oven over a bed of coals (charcoal or wood) instead of gas burners? I have a 16x38 cook table for my dutch oven and wondered if I lit up some coals and could use this.

Camp Chef Admin (not verified) on May 20, 2013 1:53 pm

That's a good question. You could certainly give it a try and see how it does. For best performance, the pizza stone should be around 500-600 degrees F. This may be a challenge for charcoal to heat the stone that high, though it may be possible. Another important aspect of cooking pizza is temperature control to keep it around those temperatures. This is why a stove is ideal to use. But certainly give it a try, see how it goes and let us know!
