Deep fried Oreos are like a scone with a mini chocolate cake in the center! They are delicious and should definitely be eaten while still warm. They are fun and easy to make! Rumor has it; that you can pretty much fry anything these days….Snickers, Twinkies, Pickles, Green Beans, apple slices and the list can go on and on! Here’s what you will need for the deep fried Oreos:
- Oil for frying (I like to use peanut oil, because it has a rummy nutty flavor.)
- Oreos (frozen for at least 2 hours)
- Pancake batter
Place the oil in a pan, we used our Aluminum Pot Set and it worked perfectly. Set the heat at med. – high, to begin heating the oil. Follow directions on the package to make the pancake batter. We found it easier to cover the cookies if the pancake batter is a little on the thick side. Test the oil and make sure it is 350 degrees, or if you do not have an oil thermometer, drop a little bit of pancake batter in and see if it starts to bubble around the batter and form a ball.
When the oil is ready, dip the Oreos one at a time into the pancake batter and place it into the hot oil, carefully so it does not splash hot oil everywhere. Fry for about 30 seconds then turn over and fry the other side.
Use our Long Handled Skimmer to remove the Oreos from the oil and place on paper towels to soak up some of the oil. Eat while still warm and enjoy!
