The answer to your question about searing is yes/no. First, in the no in that the grill grates in the unit won't retain enough heat to sear. But, if you put a cast iron skillet in there, like a ribbed skillet, till the unit reads approx. 420 degrees, you can sear a steak, or like we did today, a ribeye. After we seared both sides, we put a meat probe in and once the temp said 145, we pulled the steak and it was perfect. As for the grill grates, we don't have any specifically designed for the pellet grill right now.
