Cast Iron Summer Cooking – Just Around the Corner

By on March 25, 2011

I love outdoor cooking! I even do grilling and dutch oven cooking in the winter in Minnesota. It seems my friends and family cannot get enough cast iron cooking. I enjoy spending family weekends making dutch oven meals or impressing the guys on a fishing trip. A beautiful, warm, summer evening at the lake, with the smell of a caramel apple cobbler bubbling in my Camp Chef dutch oven, while sitting around the campfire. It doesn’t get any better than this. At least not until the cobbler is done and you put some in a bowl topped off with some vanilla ice cream. As the fire slowly dies down, the coals continue to glow red, we start to wind down for a good night’s rest. We look forward to the sunrise, knowing full well a new day will start with a hearty mountain man breakfast, muffins or biscuits cooked in cast iron. It’s just around the corner…
