This Seasons Tailgating Party

By admin | December 4, 2007

College ball is just about over, the BCS is really screwed up but that’s something everyone will agree on, unless you get a billion dollars every year for just existing.  Small schools especially those in the west get screwed.  That’s besides the point.  The NFL is still going strong and for all of those tailgaters out there Camp Chef has introduced the MVP Sport Grill.  Its powerful, compact, and looks great.  It’s my big suggestion when looking for a tailgating stove.

This is the time of year which separates the true die hards from the poser wannabes. Just like football the NE Patriots will keep on keepin on even in the cold. The Water Buffalos and our Big Gas Grill 3(Item # SPG90B)will do the same.

We are planning the menu for our next three home game against Pittsburg, NY Jets and Miami. It looks like it will be very cold so we’ll include chili with onions and cheese along with beef and chicken stew all in bread bowls. Walshie or Cookie as he is affectionately known will prep everything before hand and assemble and cook it right on site. Everyone raves about the power and Cookie likes a powerful flame too but it the stoves ability to simmer or smoke slow and low which he likes best!!!

Life is good right now the Pats just beat the vaunted Steelers and now we wait for the NY Jet to come into town.

The stadium parking lot was jumping this past weekend. The weather was great and the grills were fired up. We don’t have the biggest or most technologically advanced set up but the equipment is well thought out, the food is great and the people are topnotch.

Cookie and I talked a lot about the menu for next week. The guys agreed we should have Cookie’s beef chili, salad, shrimp with cocktail sauce, cheese and crackers.

The count down has begun. All serious tailgaters know what I am talking about. Professional team tailgaters plan the same way our teams plan for a big game.

Monday and Tuesday the tailgating organizers TO (coaches) set their game plan (organize our list, talk to AO’s about menu ideas, and send emails to participants).

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as the emails come in food and equipment assignments are handed out. Saturday last minute phone call are made reminding participants of there Sunday obligations and confirming the time and location of the event.

Game Day arrives and everything comes together GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT FOOD and GREAT DRINK EQUAL GREAT DAYS….

Sunday in December in NE, what do you think of when you hear that phrase? I’ll tell you SNOW, SLEET and DRIVING RAIN that is what your answer should be!

Sunday at Gillette Stadium did not disappoint. First we had to leave the house at the crack of dawn, not literally but it was early.

We have a good system and it was only snowing so set up was not too bad. We lit the grill and the Mr. Heat propane heater and got things started. The menu included cornbeef hash, bacon, eggs and pancakes. We also had OJ, hot chocolate and really strong coffee.

Patriots won and are now if you don’t know 14-0.
