Using one of America’s favorite drinks, the Keg Roaster is now making it easier for outdoor chefs to create one of America’s favorite meals - beer can chicken and turkey. Before the development of the Keg Roaster by Camp Chef, a producer of high-end outdoor cooking equipment, beer can chicken was a delicacy few people had the patience or ability to cook. “I love the flavor of beer can chicken,” said expert outdoor chef Marla Rawlings. “The only problem is the amount of effort you have to put into it, which is why the Keg Roaster is such a valuable tool.”
The Keg Roaster cooks beer can chicken or turkey in a matter of three easy steps. Start things off by drinking 1/3 a can of beer (or your favorite beverage), then marinate, season or rub the bird, and finally place the bird over the beer can (2/3 full) and cook until the internal meat temperature reads 170 degrees. Designed for convenience, the Keg Roaster is complete with a vented, dome lid that has the capacity to cook a 20 lbs. turkey or three large roasting chickens. This roasting dome is also designed with a built in temperature gauge.
“With the combination of the can of beer and the versatility of the roasting dome, the system makes cooking a dry bird virtually impossible”, said Ty Measom, Camp Chef Vice President. “ It really will give you the most tender and juicy chicken you’ve ever cooked,” he said. “What’s even better is that it comes without the hassle you have from using other methods for chicken and turkey.” One reason for fewer hassles is the way the Keg Roaster deals with grease and oil. When grease drips from the bird, it drains into a heat-diversion plate, making the roaster easier to clean. And unlike deep-frying, the Keg Roaster requires no additional oil. “Even if you don’t enjoy the flavor of beer, because of its quality and versatility, the Keg Roaster is a must,” Measom said. Try the roasting a bird using your favorite beverage. May we suggest lemonade, a lemon-lime soda pop or even cranberry juice. The possibilities are endless.
