Dutch Oven Cooking on a Camp Chef stove.

Try this method when cooking with a Dutch oven on your Camp Chef stovetop to help spread the heat to the outside of the pot. Our Camp Chef Flame Tamer (FT-10) is the perfect aid for improved heat control when using Dutch ovens. Simply place this 10" metal disc on the grate over your burner to help spread and diffuse the heat.

Our Dutch Oven Trivet (TRDO) is also great for keeping your Dutch oven off of the surface. The larger Dutch oven's (14" and over) legs don't allow you to center the oven over the burner, so by using the trivet you will be able to center the Dutch oven directly over the burner.

Dutch Oven on Top

Simply place the Flame Tamer over the burner, center the Dutch oven trivet on top of the Flame Tamer and place your Dutch oven on top of the trivet. You can adjust the flame as needed, even using a little bit of a higher heat than you usually would. You will notice that as the food starts to heat, the whole outside edge will bubble meaning that you have accomplished a full heat throughout the entire pot and not just the center. This method will work with any size Dutch oven.
